Resolve

The verb resolve means to solve or end a difficulty or a problem.

Synonyms are decision, boldness, will, or intention.

The word origins from Old French (14th century) resolver or directly from Latin resolvere meaning “to loosen, loose, unyoke, undo, explain, relax, set free, make void, dispel”. It comes from re-, perhaps intensive, or “back” plus solvere meaning “to loosen, untie, release, explain”.

He quickly resolved the issue.
