The adjective claustrophobic can be used to describe a place or situation where you feel uncomfortable because of being enclosed or restricted.  

Synonyms are enclosed, limited, confined or cramped.

The word was first recorded 1889 “affected by claustrophobia“. Later 1953 it was used as “person who has claustrophobia“. The word is therefore not that old and often used to describe a person who is anxious about a certain place. 

 This is a small, crowded and enclosed room and I feel very claustrophobic so I need some air and space.

The concert with the large crowd of people made her feel claustrophobic.

The cinema can be a little bit claustrophobic when it is full.
